It took me years to find a fitness routine that worked for me.
During high school, I was involved in cheerleading, gymnastics, and track so I didn’t really have to worry about “working out” outside of athletics.
My freshmen year of college was a different story. I didn’t work out at all. I lived on Frappuccinos, Chick-fil-A, and late night batches puppy dog chow. I definitely gained the freshman 15.
A year later, however, I found myself as an NFL cheerleader for the Tennessee Titans and needed to get back on track. I worked out a lot. I ran a few miles each day plus lifted weights. However, I ate crappy food. As in, I counted calories and ate nothing of nutritional value.
Finally, years later, I have found what works best for me … a balanced lifestyle of fitness and healthy eating habits.
My close friends tease me about not liking to “work out” or go to the gym. But, the truth is I actually do work out … I just happen to do so in the privacy of my own home! For me, I love strength training moves to slightly tone my body vs. lifting heavy weights. I also prefer to eat clean (as in paleo) most of the time so I don’t have to do lots of cardio … because who actually likes to sweat and do cardio?! lol
I think the best approach to fitness is finding what works best for you and your body type.
I have found pilates to work best for me.
A few years ago, I discovered Cassey Ho and her incredible YouTube channel, Blogilates! I absolutely love Cassey’s fun, fresh approach to fitness and the fact that I can literally do all of her videos on my bedroom floor! I also really appreciate Cassey’s balanced approach of a healthy lifestyle through nutrition, fitness, and positive body image.
Cassey’s videos target specific muscle groups, require little to no equipment, and are typically less than 20 minutes, allowing you to easily fit them into your daily routine!
So if you are stuck in a fitness rut or perhaps just want to try some new moves here are some of my fit faves from Cassey’s channel Blogilates…

“Legs and Thighs Workout” – this is hands down my go to video…I do this one multiple times each week…it never gets easier and I am always sore!
“The ULTIMATE Hot Body Workout” – four moves…to fatigue…you’ll be looking and feeling fab!
“Super Swiss Ball Workout” – I have yet to find a better all-over ab workout than this one right here…its killer! (the move demoed in the pics below is included in this video and is seriously the best move to work your abs as well as toning your entire body!)
“New Body Makeover” – this workout is jam packed with tons of incredible moves to target abs, legs, and arms…you’re sure to be totally toned!
“Hips, Butt’n Thighs Super Shaper” – these specific shaping moves are incredibly hard and sure to leave you feeling firm!
“5 Minute Ab Express Workout” – don’t let the “5 minute express” fool you …you will be sweating and shaking by the end!
