If you know me at all you know that I am someone who wants to BE like Jesus. I am someone who humbly attempts to follow Jesus with my life…through my words, my actions, my heart, the way I love and treat people. Some days I do okay and more days than some I fail miserably. Nevertheless as a Christian, I am a Christ Follower and I want to BE like Jesus.
So what’s amazing about Jesus is that He (as the Son of God/God Himself) could BE anything. He could literally have chosen to be, say, do anything He wanted while here on Earth…I mean, He’s God right? Yet what’s interesting about Jesus is the way He went about this…HE never forced this reality on anyone. He could’ve told people…he could’ve just walked right up and said,
“Hey I’m God…The End.”
BUT instead Jesus chose to communicate who He was and what He came for by BEing someone…
“For Jesus doesn’t impose salvation as a solution: he narrates salvation into being through leisurely conversation, intimate personal relationships, compassionate responses, passionate prayer, and—putting it all together—a sacrificial death.“
I don’t want to simply tell people who I am….I want to communicate who I am through the way I live my life. More than that, I don’t want to just tell people about Jesus, I want to communicate Christ to them…loving them, praying for them, having conversations and relationships. We are all in the process of BEcoming someone…
Who do you want to BE? Do you want to BE like Jesus?
