I’ve been a long time fan of Cassey Ho and my admiration for her just skyrocketed!
As a devoted “popster,” Cassey has led me in countless pilates tutorials in the privacy of my own home, completely eliminating the time and expense of actually going to the gym from my life! I LOVE Cassey for her energy, enthusiasm, and her fun, fresh approach to fitness.
But what I especially love about Cassey is that she promotes a healthy lifestyle and positive body image through exercise and nutrition.
Despite leading over 2 million YouTube followers to their health and fitness goals, Cassey herself has faced a barrage of cyber bullying and online body shaming. She recently released “The “Perfect” Body” in response to all the negativity from her online haters…
“In this video, you will experience what it feels like to be constantly bombarded with outrageous negativity…You will see me struggle with my own appearance. So what if I changed? Would everyone be happy then? What if I lived in a world where I could photoshop my body in real life? Would I be happy then?” ~Cassey Ho
As I think about what this video means to me and so many young girls dealing with the pressures of pursuing an “ideal” body image, I am reminded a few profound truths…
- what you look like is not who you are (this.)
- what you look like will not get you love (only false attention) (this.)
- what you look like will not bring you the affirmation you are truly seeking…even Victoria’s Secret models are insecure (this.)
- what you look like is even more beautiful than you realize (this.)
And then the Lord sweetly whispers this perfect scripture which just says it all…
“My darling, everything about you is beautiful, and there is nothing at all wrong with you.” ~Song of Solomon 4:7 NCV
