“He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
And they will live securely,
for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.
Have you ever stopped and truly thought about the miracle that Christmas really is?
Because the miracle is the fact that here we are over 2600 years after Micah wrote these words prophesying the coming of the Christ …
“for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.”
Take a moment and just think about the transcending truth of this verse for a few minutes.
2600 years later.
His birth …
His entrance into this world …
forever changed it.
The Word became flesh simply couldn’t be contained in a manger or in Bethlehem or in Israel …
And the Great I AM couldn’t be controlled by the Pharisees or the Roman empire or stay the first century …
And so here we are today, hundreds of miles and thousands of years later, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ because his greatness has reached us.
Right now, in 2017, celebrating Immanuel …
His birth has reached across time and space and births joy and life and hope into our world.
and His greatness is still reaching.
He is the center of human history and wants to be the center of your life.
And while the Christmas season is full of beautiful trees and decorations, lots of love, laughter and family traditions, it can also be difficult and painful. Families live miles apart, are divided, or divorced and you want to include everyone but not everyone gets along anymore.
And then Christmas becomes complicated.
So when it does, I hope the words of Micah will be as true for you today as they were that night in Bethlehem when the shepherds gazed up at the heavens and down into the face of God.
“… And He will be their peace.”
He is not only the centerpiece of time and history,
but He is …
our peace with God
our only peace in this world
and give us the hope to heal our hearts and lives and our relationships with each other
The Prince of Peace.
