A few years ago, an incredible Bible teacher taught me to read the Word in a new way.
He said one day he realized he could fall out of love with Jesus overnight. So every morning, he would open his Bible and say, “Jesus I need you to tell me that you love me. Show me how you love me through what I am reading today.”
And then he would
This was a little awkward for me at first and took some time to get the hang of, but it has been absolutely transforming for the way I read the Bible. It is amazing to start listening for Jesus and listing the intimate ways in which He loves you. It has made my relationship with Him deeper and even more personal.
Truly God’s Word is a love letter to His people and if you take the time and listen in your heart His love speaks between lines of scripture.
Here is a verse I am loving this week in a few different translations …
You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. (NIV)
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. (NLT)
You will teach me how to live a holy life. Being with you will fill me with joy; at your right hand I will find pleasure forever. (NCV)
You make the path of life known to me. Complete joy is in your presence. Pleasures are by your side forever. (GW)
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. (AMP)
Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way. (MSG)
I love you because…
I offer you life … real, abundant life … life to the full.
This life is not a secret or an exclusive thing … everyone’s welcome in Me.
I offer you this life freely … it’s a gift and it comes from Me alone.
I gladly reveal myself to you and make it known to you.
I give you JOY … not happiness but Joy because joy never comes from your outward circumstances but from Me alone.
You can find this Joy in My Presence, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
This life is yours forevermore if you want it … it is My gift to you and all you have to do is accept it.
Perhaps it is a word or sometimes it is a full phrase but I promise you can
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will opened for you.” Luke 11:7
Because He Speaks.
